Monterey Subgroup Meeting

Medical Advisors are Dr. Anthony Shaheen, M.D. Urologist and Dr. Brad Tamler, M.D., Radiation Oncologist. Our guest speaker will be Steve Okamoto, CLU, ChFC, who is the director of Gift and Estate Planning for the American Cancert Society in California.  Coincidentally, Steve is also a prostate cancer survivor ans so is better able to relate to our interests and needs. One of the subjects he will cover is current tax laws. Wives and guests are encouraged to participate. There will be ample time for questions. Light refreshments will be provided.

We remind you that the Monterey Group meets the first Wednesday of EVERY OTHER month. Please mark your calendar.

Santa Cruz Regular and Sub-group
Meets at 7:00 p.m. the last Tuesday of every month at Santa Cruz Dominican Hospital.

Howard Waage at 688-0423 is your contact. Members, wives and guests are welcome. Santa Cruz also has a Subgroup for men who have recurrent disease after primary treatment. Their web site gives the dates, time and location of their meeting and much more. The Katz Cancer Resource Center is another resource in the Santa Cruz area.

Regarding Group Meetings:

1. Mark your calendar with dates to remember.
2. Members, wives and guests may attend any meeting.
3. You may attend any meeting you wish irrespective of where you live.

Speakers' Bureau

We have members who are available to speak about prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment at your group meetings. If you belong to Kiwanis, Rotary or other interested organizations, please contact your local facilitator. Allow ample time for scheduling purposes.

Donations Welcome

Our group has ongoing operating expenses beyond what the sponsors can provide. We do not have dues, but do hope members will make any size donation to help us. The Monterey Chapter partially funds the other Central Coast groups with the newsletter, various expenses, computer work, etc. Please make checks payable to "Prostate Cancer Self-help Group" and mail to Paul Soifer at 407 Carmel Ave., Pacific Grove, CA 93950. We have a 501(c)(3) Tax ID number, so your donations are deductible.
